The Discworld Collectors Library is Here!
I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I COULD MURDER A CURRY.
For a generation of readers, text rendered in all caps has meant one of two things: either someone is shouting on the internet or the Discworld’s favourite personification of an abstract concept is making a characteristically pithy pronouncement. Guess which one we’re talking about?
It is indeed Death. Or DEATH to be pedantic, for it is HIS day, today. Well, statistically speaking, every day is Death’s day, but today more than most, for today we publish these:
Yes, today is publication day for the first volumes in our new Discworld Collector’s Library, which launches with the first two installments in THE DEATH COLLECTION: Mort and Reaper Man. With Soul Music and the seasonally-appropriate Hogfather coming next month (it’s almost like we plan these things, isn’t it?), the last days of 2013 are sure to be filled with comfort and joy. And Binky.
They say you shouldn’t laugh at death but in this instance we’re prepared to make an exception. Look for Mort and Reaper Man at a bookselling emporium near you, and prepare yourself for a mirth-filled holiday. Or, as the ‘man’ himself would say:
AH, YES. ER . . . HO. HO. HO.
N.B. The eye-catching covers are by Joe McLaren, and we’re sure you’ll agree they’re a bold but inspired new look for these much-loved books.
N.B. #2 Many of you are asking whether the series will continue after Jingo. The short answer is: we don’t know. The slightly longer answer is that we do not control rights in any of the Discworld books after Jingo; they are published by Transworld. At the moment, we know of no firm plans on their part to continue the Collector’s Library, but if that changes we’ll certainly note it on the Gollancz blog. We now return you to your regular viewing . . .
