The 72nd Worldcon, Loncon
Gollancz is absolutely delighted to be attending LonCon 3 this weekend, in support of our very own guest of honour:
Malcolm Edwards
Guests of honour are selected for their outstanding contribution to the genre, and have made a wise choice for the 72nd World Science Fiction Convention. Malcolm has been a magazine, anthology and novel editor. He was one of the founders of Interzone, a contributor to the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction in addition to being the director of the Science Fiction Foundation. While working for Victor Gollancz he rose from copy-editor to Publishing Director before moving to Grafton and HarperCollins, and then to Orion where – reunited with the Gollancz list – he founded the Science Fiction Masterworks and Fantasy Masterworks lines, which have become the envy of the SF publishing community.
Among other authors, he has worked with J. G. Ballard, Philip K. Dick, George R. R. Martin, Terry Pratchett, Stephen King, William Gibson, Stephen King, Robert Ludlum, James Patterson and Tom Clancy.
It is all the more impressive that brilliant Science Fiction and Fantasy publishing is only one string to Malcolm’s bow, and it is our pleasure to be there to support him.
A few other details about our plans for the weekend:
- Malcolm Edwards is a Guest of Honour and the Gollancz editors are on a number of panels each throughout the weekend, with more than 30 hours of programming between them.
- 44 authors will be involved in more than 100 hours of panels and seminars over 3 days.
- We’ll have a branded table in the dealers room. Signings will be held throughout the weekend at the Gollancz table. The team will be selling books as well as Gollancz mugs and bags. Authors will also be dropping by to sign their books and to pick up their much-sought-after yellow Gollancz lanyards (a badge of honour) and tote bags from the table.
