Cover for Simon Ings’s Wolves wins Gold Medal from Society of Illustrators
The Orion Publishing Group are proud to announce that Jeff Alan Love has won a gold medal at the Society of Illustrators for his cover of Simon Ings’s Wolves due to be published by Gollancz in January 2014.
Wolves is a chilling literary dystopia that marks the return to science-fiction from the author of six critically–acclaimed works of literature and two influential non-fiction books, Simon Ings.
For the cover of Wolves, Jeff Alan Love had to capture a multi-layered narrative; a science-fiction story about a new technology quickly becomes a psychological murder mystery.
The book’s editor, Simon Spanton, said: “Jeffrey realised a difficult brief brilliantly, managing to convey the book’s themes of layered realities and rapacious ambition with immense flair and power.”
Jeff Alan Love said “It is hard to put into words how much this means to me – all I can do is say thank you to Simon for writing such a great book, Simon and Nick at Gollancz for believing in my work, and the Society of Illustrators and the jury for making another of my dreams come true”.
In addition to the beautiful cover for Wolves, Jeff Alan Love has designed the covers for a collectable set of paperbacks re-launching Simon Ings’s backlist: Hot Head, Hotwire, City of Iron Fish, Painkillers, Headlong (Gollancz, February – June 2014).
