A Very True Tale: A Guest Post by Edward Cox
We are very pleased to welcome Edward Cox, author of The Relic Guild, back to the Gollancz Blog. We are especially pleased that Edward Cox is going to share the story of how The Relic Guild came to be published. This post originally ran on Edward’s Tumblr.
A question I’m frequently asked is: How did you get your book published? It is an age old question, steeped in mysticism, and one that we authors are forbidden to answer. Unless, of course, we are fighting in the epic battles of The Blog Tour! Here, there are no holds barred as we combat deadlines and other prissy author complaints, while revealing interesting things about ourselves.
Last year, during the mighty event that was The Relic Guild Blog Tour, I confessed in a very grownup and responsible way precisely how my book got published by Gollancz. Details of that confession can still be found on the magical internet, in a strange and faraway land called Sci-Fi London.
But I’m ashamed to admit that I lied. Yes, an author misdirected his readers. The guilt burns me, darkens my soul. And so, to atone, I present to you the very true, and not in any way puerile, tale of how The Relic Guild got published . . .
The Relic Guild is out in paperback on Thursday. The Relic Guild is also available in eBook and audio download. You can read the first chapter of The Relic Guild here. You can find out more about Edward Cox by visiting his website, following him on Twitter, Tumblr, Wattpad, Facebook or Goodreads.
